NPC Policies and Rates

NPC New User Policy 

1. General Policies

• Access to the NPC facility requires a CLMS account, a signed NPC User Agreement, and completion of required training.
• Instrument use without a CLMS reservation is prohibited.
• All users must adhere to CNSI and NPC internal policies and be aware of applicable charges.
• Facility access is provided on a first-come, first-served basis during standard business hours via CLMS.
• Upon completion of training and sample preparation, users must request instrument access activation via email. A session must be scheduled within two weeks of training; failure to do so will require retraining. Retraining is mandatory after six months of inactivity and incurs additional fees.

2. Laboratory Safety

• New users must submit a completed NPC safety orientation form, complete required video and emergency route training, and participate in lab-specific instruction during instrument training.
• Mandatory completion of Laboratory Safety Fundamentals (LAB-LSFC-OL), Laser Safety Fundamentals (LAS-LAS-OL), and Hazardous Waste Management courses via UCLA EH&S is required before instrument reservation, unless waived for qualified users.

3. Publication Acknowledgement

• All publications utilizing NPC instruments must include the statement: “The authors acknowledge the use of [instrument name] at the Nano and Pico Characterization Lab at the California NanoSystems Institute. RRID:SCR_022924”.
